The local government of Adazi was formed in 1990, and has performed with its current structure since 2005. In compliance with provisions by the Adazi Region Local Government, the Adazi Regional Council passes resolutions, establishes the institutional structure of the local government, rules on the implementation of autonomous function and voluntary initiative, as well as on the procedure, by which state administration function and implementation of managerial tasks delegated to the local government is being ensured, elaborates and executes local government budget. Meetings of the Council are held on the fourth Tuesday of every month and any resident of the region is welcome to attend them. Deputies of the Adazi Regional Council participate in the work of several committees.

The Adazi Regional Council performs its functions in several buildings. The main building of the Council is located in the centre of Adazi, at Gaujas Street 33a. The Administration, Secretariat, Accounting and Finance Department, Legal and Real Estate Department, Purchasing Department, Procurement Department, Custody Court, Registry Office and Population Registry Service are located there. Social Service is located at Gaujas Street 13/15. In October 2007, the Construction Board, Rural Support Service and Information and Development Department were transferred to premises at Muizas Street 5.

Since 2000, in order to support mutual communication, the newspaper Ādažu Vēstis was issued, but, in 2004, the Adazi Region Internet homepage www.adazi.lv/ was created. In addition, information on events taking place in the region are provided in Rīgas Apriņķa Avīze and other mass media.
