Sport

The majority of various sport activities in the territory of the Adazi Region are held in the Adazi Sports Centre and in the stadium of the Adazi Secondary School. The Adazi Sports Centre, as one of the structural units of the Council, performs its functions with the following purposes:
- To organize development of sport activities in the Adazi Region;
- To develop physical activity and to ensure strengthening of health of local citizens;
- To ensure opportunities for everyone to participate in sports, particularly, to encourage involvement of the youth by creating the necessary material and technical base.
Everyone can find a suitable type of sports activity here, as the range of services provided is very broad: a swimming pool where one may swim independently or under supervision of a swimming instructor; a workout room where an experienced fitness coach will prepare an individual training program, if necessary; an aerobics hall where five different types of activities are available, a hall for martial arts, a hall for sport games and a hall for table-tennis. Furthermore, a sauna, Jacuzzi and vapour bath is available for visitors to the centre. Detailed and the most recent information may be obtained on the website of the sports centre www.adazubaseins.lv .
Seven sports sections (basketball, judo, sambo, floorball, Greek-Roman wrestling, tennis, volleyball) and two sport clubs (football, ice-hockey) actively function in the Adazi Region. The oldest traditions in the Adazi Region belong to basketball and martial arts (Greek-Roman wrestling, judo and sambo). Adazi basketball is remarkable due to the fact that teams are formed of trainees from a single school. The floorball team Ādaži has gained success on the Riga District level. As a result of collaboration among coaches, many young wrestlers successfully participate in various Greek-Roman wrestling and judo competitions, obtaining top placement on a Latvian, European and world scale. The Adazi women's volleyball team successfully participates in Latvian Championships. The Adazi Tennis Centre is located near the sports centre. Both adult and young sportsmen are trained there under the supervision of trainers famous in Latvia and Europe. In 2006, the football club Ādaži was established in Adazi, where championship is taught to boys and youths 7-18 years of age. Football is also played by a team of veterans, which participates on a regular basis in the North Vidzeme Football League Championship and gets top placement. In 2007, ice-hockey club Ādaži was established. Wakeboard and motoball are also developing in Adazi.
